Ted takes a step back from the world of eSports coverage.

Well it has certainly been a while since my last update (+2 weeks to be technical) and unfortunately I’ve been battling sickness, stress, and an overload of work. So let me give you guys the 10 second rundown: In case you don’t know, the regular season of CEVO just ended with Pandemic landing the first seed into playoffs with a 14-1 record. Additionally, Pandemic also pulled out an impressive win in the GotFrag Tournament over Pure eSports in 2 maps. Also, earlier this week I hooked up with my good friend Jock Yitch over at BASHandSLASH.com for a much needed CoD4 eSports roundup. You can check out the show below:

Finally, to wrap things up, ETS LAN in Montreal took place this weekend, so all in all not too bad. Now on to the real news…

With great sadness I unfortunately have decided to discontinue the regularity of this blog. Now, I know what you’re thinking, WHY!?!? I have made this decision not because of the amount, or lack, of the site’s traffic. This has absolutely nothing to do with the declining state of competitive CoD4 nor does it have anything to do with gaming or eSports in general. I will continue to volunteer my time with CEVO, so I will not be leaving eSports entirely. I love eSports, I don’t think I could ever just walk away and never come back, but at this moment in my life I need to take a step back. This blog will continue to stay up, however, its posts will not be the weekly coverage you are used to.

Until then, game on.

Due to the decrease in traffic, the amount content being produced will be changing slightly. Additionally, we update a few minor things for SEO.

Despite all the exciting matches and upsets this week, things have been pretty slow around here. When I first launched this blog I had a lot of feedback with a number of people volunteering their time and skills. Unfortunately, I think some people thought this was going to be some full blown news site and were perhaps disappointed with the kind of content being produced. I tried to accommodate this by changing my original plan to include bi-weekly posts for CEVO and GotFrag. While only a week has gone by, I’m afraid to say I will be changing the content format again.

Over the past few days traffic has been decreasing steadily, hitting an all time low Thursday when it should have spiked back up for both the CEVO and GotFrag news posted. Between the two combined posts yesterday (CEVO & GotFrag) there was a total of 14 unique hits for the CEVO post and 6 unique hits for the GotFrag post, totaling 20 unique visits for Thursday. I don’t really have a problem with traffic numbers, but what I do have a problem with is wasted time. These numbers are way too low to warrant bi-weekly news posts and it is not fair to those who volunteered their time writing predictions. Therefore, I will be switching things up for now to have one post per week for both Thursday and Monday CEVO round matches as well as one weekly post for GotFrag. The GotFrag weekly posts will go up every Tuesday while the CEVO weekly posts will go up every Thursday. Due to the fact I already relesed a post Thursday for CEVO, I will have a post out Monday for those matches so they are not skipped over.

If traffic increases I will be more then happy to go back to bi-weekly news posts and possibly more. I would prefer not to have to spam links all around the community to get hits, but I’m not sure how else to do it. So, I ask all of you who already come on a regular basis or semi-regular basis to get your teammates/friends visiting. In the meantime I’ve made a few small technical updates including an updated version of wordpress, sharing options at the bottom of each post, ads inside the left column to pay for server expenses, and a few other SEO upates to try to help with site traffic. As always, I am more then happy to hear your thoughts/opinions/flames so feel free to contact me with anything.

After an interesting launch of this blog things seem to be going quite well so I figured I'd give everyone a little update about what's going on.

After an interesting launch of this blog things seem to be going quite well so I figured I’d give everyone a little update about what’s going on.

To start with, Limech from E-REV TV was gracious enough to create a custom RSS feed of upcoming CoD4 broadcasts from his site (www.progamingtv.com) so I do not have to manually update the list. You can find that RSS feed at the top right-hand side of the page like the previous list. When there are no casts within the feed it will probably read “No casts planned for the next 7 days.” Not to worry though, the feed will automatically update when specific casts are scheduled.

Secondly, I realized that although this is just a blog, people still might want to access achieves of different posts. For now, I’ve added a “News Sections” tab underneath the “Upcoming CoD4 Casts” tab. These sections will be broken into multiple categories: Site News (like this post), General CoD4 News (Roster changes, state of the game, etc.), and League/Tournament specific categories. I’m not sure whether this is the best way to achieve the posts, but for now it seems like it will work.

Additionally, after the launch I have had a number of people add me to xfire, however, I am still looking for 1-3 people to help with predictions for weekly CEVO and GotFrag matches. These predictions are not complicated and don’t require a whole lot of work, just simply who you think will win a particular match. I might also be looking for a graphic designer for a logo so if anyone is interested, has some spare time, and would be willing to donate it, please get in contact with me.

Final note, I’ve been asked a number of times whether I will be attending the upcoming NERV LAN. I will be at NERV and pending any uncontrolable circumstances I will be providing coverage here. I will leave that subject there as NERV is still a few weeks away, but hopefully I will be able to have a few more updates on that subject as well as something else I’m in the process of working on in the coming weeks.

Welcome to div3rse.com, my personal blog for CoD4 and eSports news and content.

Welcome to div3rse.com, my personal blog for CoD4 and eSports news and content. How often will there be content here? I don’t know. If there is something to write about I will, if not, I won’t. You can probably make a safe bet there will be at least two posts a week for CEVO coverage. Additionally, I’ll also try to start covering the GotFrag tournament and possibly a little bit of CAL-Main. At the top right of the page I have a place for upcoming CoD4 broadcasts. I’ll try to keep this updated ahead of time so people know in advance which matches are being casted before match night. Additionally, I have set up my Twitter RSS feed for quick CoD4 updates as well as GotFrag’s CoD4 RSS for additional news and content.

So what kind of content should you expect here? Without getting to technical I’ll be writing coverage, news, and a whole lot of opinion on what is happening in the CoD4 community. This content will be completely independent of any of my affiliations, no words left out. Over the past month the CoD4 community has lost an independent source of news and content to the lure of eSports ‘businesses’.

Coverage needs to go back to being fun again, a couple guys sitting around writing about what is happening, why its happening, and what to expect. I have no intention of turning this into some big CoD4 news site. This isn’t a play at GotFrag, Insider eSports or anyone else. This is a personal blog based on CoD4 and eSports news. If you don’t like it, don’t come. If you do, pull up a chair and feel free to hook up to my RSS feeds. My job is not to tell your story. My job is to make sure your story gets told.
